Fly Fishing Trips: Salmon River Mountains

When you lodge at Wapiti Meadow Ranch, you gain access to over 50 miles of freestone streams, which are perfectly suited for fly fishing. The lodge is located adjacent to the largest wilderness area in the Lower 48. This location offers both beginner and experienced fly-fishing enthusiasts access to some of the best water in the headwaters of the legendary Salmon River system, including the blue-ribbon cutthroat waters of the mighty Middle Fork of the Salmon River and the Bull Trout waters of the East Fork/South Fork Salmon.

Nine lakes accessed by foot or 4'x4' trails provide opportunities to enjoy the alpine reaches of the spectacular Salmon River Mountains, as well as its stream valleys. Secluded, unspoiled, and people-free, the pure waters of this most remote area in the Rocky Mountain West offer the best in wild trout fishing. Many streams and numerous high mountain lakes ensure an ample amount of variety in a full week of fly-fishing adventure.

Ranch Pond

Our ranch's pond can supply Brook Trout and Rainbow Trout. It is perfect for practicing fly fishing techniques, learning fly fishing skills, and supplying wonderful breakfast side-dishes and delicious trout appetizers or dinners.

You must practice catching and releasing on all streams. There is a six fish take limit on our high mountain lakes. Our pond is there for the angler who loves to taste as well as catch. Additionally, our staff is happy to take novice fly fishers under our wing and give them instruction in casting the finer points of fly fishing techniques on our vast lawns and private trout pond. Both guided and non-guided fly fishing tours are available.
